You are not looking for something. You are open, receptive. At some point you are in front of something that you cannot ignore."⠀I was incredibly lucky to be able to study with Hank, and to TA for him at SFAI. Somewhere I have a photo he secretly took of me after asking to see my camera. The previous picture on the roll is one I secretly took of him. Toward the end of my time there he let me "borrow" his flash but never let me give it back. He had a humor and curiosity about the world that influenced me more than any other artist. I'm sad I won't be able to talk shop with him again or sift through piles of photographs, talking about light and meaning. ⠀
